The New York Cubans emerged from earlier clubs known as the Cuban Stars (East and West), carrying forward a rich, international baseball tradition. In 1935, owner Alex Pompez brought the team into the Negro National League, building a roster that reflected the diaspora, featuring talent from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. The team often took the field at iconic venues like the Polo Grounds and Yankee Stadium, leaving its mark on the game through legends such as Luis Tiant Sr., Minnie Miñoso, and the incomparable Martín Dihigo.

This piece reimagines the 1948 New York Cubans ballcap, crafted with a hand-sewn cotton twill crown, a smooth faux suede bill, and finished with a clean embroidered “NY” insignia, a nod to history, carried forward with intention.
